Woven Wire Stainless Steel Sieve Screens Overview

Woven wire stainless steel sieve screens are test sieves used for laboratory sampling and particle size analysis. They consist of stainless steel wires woven to form uniform square openings, mounted on a rigid round stainless steel frame. The woven wire mesh is manufactured from AISI 304 or 316 stainless steel, available in aperture sizes from 125 mm down to 20 microns, with frame diameters of 100 mm, 200 mm, 300 mm, 400 mm, and 450 mm (8 and 12 inches). Full-height and half-height versions are available.

Product Advantages

Precision frame – ensures consistent nestability.

Precise aperture – in accordance with ISO 3310-1 or ASTM E11.

Natural fillet – allows free flowing of sample material.

Totally sealed – no crevice to trap or lose material.

Evenly tensioned mesh – ensures accurate analysis.

Safe edge – large radius for comfortable handling.

Serial numbered – ensures full traceability.

304 vs 316 Stainless Steel: How to Choose

The stainless steel woven wire mesh is either AISI 304 or 316. 304 stainless steel is the standard choice for general-purpose laboratory screening, offering good corrosion resistance and temperature tolerance up to 800°C. 316 stainless steel provides enhanced corrosion resistance against chlorides and acidic environments, recommended for pharmaceutical applications, food processing, and saltwater exposure. For most general laboratory applications with dry materials, 304 provides an excellent balance of performance and value. For aggressive environments, 316 is highly recommended.

Weave Pattern Selection

Plain weave is the most common pattern, suitable for most general screening.

Twill weave offers a tighter mesh structure for finer filtration.

Dutch weave uses different wire diameters in warp and weft directions, preferred for ultra-fine high-precision separation.

Applications

Woven wire stainless steel sieve screens are suited for separation, fractioning, and particle size determination of: cement clinker, chemicals, coffee, construction materials, fertilizers, flours, grains, metal powders, minerals, plastics, sand, soils, and seeds. Suitable for all areas of laboratory analytics, including pharmaceuticals and food.

Calibration, Certification & Re-Calibration Service

Test sieves are inspected and calibrated in accordance with procedures listed in clause 5.1, table 1 of ISO 3310-1 and ASTM E11. Each sieve is supplied with a Calibration Certificate recording the number of apertures and wire diameters measured, the average aperture size and standard deviation separately for the warp and weft direction. The type of weave is also stated. Each sieve is individually serial numbered for full traceability.

Re-Calibration Service – Used sieves can be returned, examined, and re-inspected. Complying sieves are issued with a new Calibration Certificate.

Resources

Technical product data sheets, specification guides, and care and maintenance guides are available upon request.

Care and Maintenance

Clean with a soft brush and mild detergent after each use.

Never use sharp objects that could damage the woven mesh.

Avoid overloading with sample material, especially for fine mesh screens.

Store in a clean, dry environment.
